WebI also have a Stihl FS55 trimmer that will only run when I put a little gas in the piston, then dies out when it burns through those drops. Replaced the carb, fuel filter and spark plug with same result. Took it to the dealer and am told it is a bad coil. If it was a bad coil i would have to believe it wouldn't start at all. Any thoughts? Thanks WebApr 12, 2024 · No amount of pulling the rope will get it to start again unless you let it cool down for 15-20 minutes, then it will fire up again for a few more minutes until it gets hot. I first noticed this last summer, it would only run for 5-10 minutes in the dead of summer, but it seems to be running a bit longer now that the weather is cooler. Any ideas?
WebMay 18, 2024 · When your trimmer starts and runs on choke, it could be because the check valve in the gas cap is clogged. Start the trimmer and gently unscrew the gas cap halfway off. Turn off the choke and assess. If the engine is still running, that means the gas cap may be the culprit. Turn off the engine and remove the gas cap. WebJul 12, 2012 · My stuff won't run very good when it get's in the mid 90's. For one thing, the fuel expands greatly at that temp. I think the carbs need to be adjusted but, some can't be done in the field (thank you EPA). Don't fill them to the top with fuel and crack the cap a lot during operation to let the pressure out.
